Changes to recycling collections from May 2019

A new contract for kerbside recycling services starts on 16 May 2019. The Materials Recycling Facility in Gt Blakenham, where recycling collected from Suffolk households is sorted, will be undergoing a major refurbishment. This will result a state-of-the-art facility for Suffolk, with the latest mechanical and optical sorting equipment.

During the renovation period, kerbside recycling will be collected as usual and will be delivered to other UK sorting facilities.

Please continue to place the following wide range of materials in your household recycling bin:

  • Paper
  • Card and books
  • Plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays
  • Steel and aluminium cans
  • Empty aerosols
  • Clean aluminium foil

More information on what you can recycle from Suffolk Recycling.

Because there is no mechanical way to separate them, residents will no longer be able to recycle food and drink cartons (e.g Tetra Pak) or metal pots, pans and trays, via the kerbside collection. However, they are accepted for recycling at all 11 Suffolk Recycling Centres.
