    A district wide youth forum with a difference

    How it started

    Suffolk Coastal District Council held the first youth conference in 2018 to explore the idea of a district wide youth council. Waveney District Council already had a very successful youth council, but the barrier of replicating this in Suffolk Coastal was the distance between schools, so we created ‘Youth Voice’. To bring the issues and concerns of young people to a council level, we supplied schools and youth settings with a suggestion box to submit their topics and concerns.

  • Tree Preservation Orders (TPO)s

    A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is an order made by the local planning authority which makes it an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy a tree without the planning authority’s permission.

    Trees in conservation areas which are already protected by a Tree Preservation Order are subject to the normal TPO controls.

  • Trees on development sites

    On sites where there are trees subject to preservation orders, within conservation areas or where there are important amenity, landscape, landmark or heritage trees, a tree survey (location, species, dimensions) and tree condition report incorporating BS5837:2012 Trees in relation to construction will be required when an application for planning permission is made.
