The Enabling Communities Strategy is about how we work with other organisations in East Suffolk to enable local people to do more. This means that we will help to make it possible or easy for communities to do what they want to do, rather than doing things ‘to’ or ‘for’ them. We want communities to take advantage of the positive things (the assets) that already exist within their local area, and not just focus on problems and needs. This is called an ‘asset-based’ approach.

A further £45k was subsequently added to the Covid-19 Hardship Funding from councillors ECB budgets – some councillors chose to donate directly to a local group.

Following a successful bid to the Government’s £3.6 billion Towns Fund, it has today been confirmed that Lowestoft will be offered £24.9 million to invest in the regeneration of the town, driving economic growth and acting as a catalyst for future investment.
