This action packed activity taking place at Sutton Heath, near Woodbridge is available to children and young people aged 8 – 16 years old, that live in or go to school in East Suffolk.
The aim of the programme, organised by East Suffolk Council and the Army Welfare Service (AWS) is to bring together young people to challenge themselves and develop new skills.
There is a mix of physical, creative, educational and adventurous activities on offer including football freestyling, dance, bushcraft, first aid, it’s a knockout and much more. Every day there are snacks and lunch provided to everyone that comes along.
Funding has been secured from the East Suffolk Holiday Activity Fund to offer free places to those that are eligible for free school meals in East Suffolk.
If you are not eligible for free school meals, then there are limited spaces available.
East Suffolk Council and the Army Welfare Service have been delivering Operation Camouflage since 2008 with the programme being designed to give young people from Military Families and those living in East Suffolk an opportunity to be active over the summer holidays and provide safe and positive activities.
In 2014, the scheme was shortlisted for the Youth Justice Award in the Children and Young People Now Awards. This category recognises the initiative that has made the biggest contribution to improving the life chances of young offenders, or those at risk of offending or reoffending. In 2019, the scheme won the Suffolk Strengthen Your Community Award at the Suffolk High Sheriff’s Awards. This category recognises initiatives that contribute to improving your local community.
