Any collections carried out for charity in a public place, whether or not it is in a public street, will need a street collection permit from our Licensing Team.

A house to house collection permit is required mainly for door-to-door charitable collections, either made with collecting tins or by returning to collect a previously posted envelope.

If you wish to be in charge of or navigate a pleasure boat or vessel for the purpose of carrying passengers for hire, you must obtain the appropriate licences from either the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) or in some cases the Council.

All forms of sex establishment require a licence from the Council.

Registration of skin piercing is required for both the person carrying out the activity and the premises used for that purpose unless being carried out by a registered medical practitioner such as a doctor. There is similar exemption for dentists in respect of acupuncture.

Street trading is defined as the selling or offering for sale of any article in the street.

Stage performances of hypnotism require authorisation from the local authority.
