Cllr Caroline Topping, Leader of East Suffolk Council has reacted with delight to an announcement by Greater Anglia, confirming the introduction of improvements to local rail services.
Greater Anglia to introduce a range of service improvements in May.
These include:
• An earlier first arrival in Lowestoft from East Suffolk line stations on Mondays to Fridays
• A later last train from Lowestoft to Beccles and from Beccles to Lowestoft on Mondays to Saturdays
• More stops for Westerfield on East Suffolk line Ipswich to Lowestoft services on Saturdays and Sundays
• A later departure time for the last Norwich to Lowestoft service on Mondays to Saturdays
Cllr Topping said:
“I am delighted to receive this positive news. At East Suffolk Council, we have been lobbying Greater Anglia for some time - seeking improvements to the services to and from our East Suffolk towns and villages including earlier and later trains out of Lowestoft- and this is very much a step in the right direction. Reliable, regular and affordable rail services are critically important for those who rely on public transport for work and education, and to boost our visitor numbers. This has long been, and will continue to be, a priority of mine to ensure they are better served.”
