Sizewell C, plus the connections of various offshore/onshore wind projects and interconnector projects (Sealink and LionLink) will require, in total, thousands of workers in East Suffolk during their construction. The Position Statement details the evidence surrounding the workers’ accommodation needs and provides recommendations and guidance to support appropriate workers’ accommodation. It will be used as a material consideration on relevant planning applications. The consultation is open until 5pm on Thursday 26 February 2026. View the consultation homepage. |

Kirkley Waterfront Planning Position Statement Supporting documents: |
The Position Statement sets out the council’s position on key issues relating to the redevelopment of policy WLP2.4 Kirkley Waterfront and Sustainable Urban Neighbourhood. |
Interactive East Suffolk Cycling and Walking Strategy Supporting documents: |
The East Suffolk Cycling and Walking Strategy was adopted on 4 October 2022 and aims to create safe, coherent, direct, comfortable, and attractive cycling, walking and wheeling environments. This can lead to improvements in health and wellbeing, facilitate greater social interaction and play, encourage more environmentally sustainable lifestyles, reduce road congestion and support economic growth. |
| Information on key environmental issues relating to the building industry, assisting those seeking to mitigate the impact of construction on climate change. | |
| Identifies all known forms of play provision across East Suffolk. The Strategy includes an assessment of the quality and value of all sites, and identifies localised gaps and shortfalls in types of provision. The Strategy will help ensure that a planned approach to play provision takes place in East Suffolk, ensuring that communities have access to high quality, inclusive play facilities to support their health and wellbeing. | |
|
East Suffolk Council commissioned Knight, Kavanagh and Page Ltd (KKP) as consultants in 2020 to support the development of the first East Suffolk Council Leisure Strategy, incorporating a suite of strategies, namely the Indoor and Built Facilities Strategy, Playing Pitch and Outdoor Sport Strategy and Open Space and Play Strategy, to provide an up-to-date evidence base and to help inform future decision-making processes. The Leisure Strategy and supporting documents do not apportion direct responsibility for specific recommendations and actions to single organisations. Rather it takes more of a matrix approach with some instances, actions being council-led but supported by external stakeholders, whereas in others they will be led by local clubs and organisations in partnership with their respective national governing bodies of sport and where the council has no specific role to play. |
