Wangford Conservation Area Review The existing Conservation Area Appraisal for Wangford dates from 2009 and requires a review of its contents and boundary.

Somerleyton Conservation Area Review The existing Conservation Area Appraisal for Somerleyton dates from 2011 and requires a review of its contents and boundary.

Halesworth Conservation Area Appraisal review

The existing Halesworth Conservation Area Appraisal dates from 2006. The Conservation Area has now been reviewed and a Draft Appraisal document produced.

The Public Consultation on the Draft Halesworth Conservation Area Appraisal is open for comment.

Comments assessed and suitable/valid amendments made. August/Sept 2025.

Presentation to Strategic Planning /committee on 12 January 2026, with an anticipated adoption date 28 January 2026.

Article 4 Direction Review Year 1 of a three-year project reviewing the Article 4 Directions currently in place on East Suffolk Council’s Conservation Area. The Year 1 review covers: Southwold, Marlesford, Wangford, Homersfield and Walberswick Quay.

Marlesford

The public consultation period ran from 15 July to 2 September. Following a number of objections to the proposal for a new Article 4 direction in Marlesford, Strategic Planning Committee decided not to confirm the Article 4 direction. Documents for the meeting can be viewed in the meeting details.

Southwold, Wangford, Homersfield and Walberswick Quay

The public consultation period ran from 15 July to 26 August. Strategic Planning Committee reviewed the responses and on 7 October 2024 confirmed the new Article 4 directions in Southwold, Homersfield, Wangford and Walberswick. Copies of the new directions can be found on our Article 4 direction page.
