Closed churchyards As part of our ground maintenance duties, the council is responsible for 29 closed churchyards across the district. Play spaces There are approximately 280 play areas in East Suffolk, with 63 of them being owned and managed by East Suffolk Council. Grass cutting Maintenance of grassed areas in public open spaces and housing areas is undertaken by East Suffolk Services Ltd. Barbecues and open fires The use of portable BBQ’s and open fires on council-owned land is prohibited, unless specific permission has been granted (and a fee paid) through an application to the council’s Events Team. Countryside sites The council own and maintain a number of key countryside sites across the district.
