Household bin collections

Our collection service gives residents alternate fortnightly collections of recyclable materials and general household waste that cannot be recycled.

Please ensure your bin is always out by 6.00am as collection times can change at any time for various reasons.

Over Christmas and New Year, there will be changes to all collections – please check our bin collection date finder for your Christmas collection dates.

Reasons why we may not be able to collect your bin

  • Contamination (the wrong waste in the wrong bin)
  • Wrong bin presented e.g. recycling bin presented instead of general waste
  • Crew cannot safely move bin
  • Overflowing bin
  • Loose ash, cinder or any other dusty materials (this must be bagged, sealed and placed in your general waste bin)

What to do with excess waste

Excess waste (side waste) that you cannot fit into your bin must be taken to a household waste recycling centre or, where possible, taken to a local recycling facility.

Additional blue bins are available for a one-off fee, to cover the purchase of the bin.

Additional black bins are only available to households of 6 or more and for those with a genuine medical condition that produce excess waste. Proof must be provided and if eligible they can have an additional blue too. There is no charge for these bins.

Recyclable materials can also be taken to a local recycling facility or to a household waste recycling centre for disposal.
