Free Period is a combination of Lowestoft Food Bank, Lowestoft Rising and Access Community Trust working together to help those that cannot afford sanitary products to access them from anywhere displaying a poster, free of charge, no proof needed, no questions asked.
Free period was started to respond to schools need and most Lowestoft & Waveney Schools/Colleges now have a box and that it has now expanded to over 25 locations making access even more accessible. People donate via the Food bank collection & Donation scheme and re stocking is done locally via Food bank. If someone contacts the East Suffolk Council they will be directed to Free Period Scheme to supply them.
Suffolk Libraries is piloting providing free sanitary items, no questions asked, in libraries across Suffolk.
The items have been donated by customers and supporting organisations East of England Co-op, Suffolk Community Foundation and Bloody Good Period and can be requested by completing a simple, discreet form in the library and handing it to a member of staff.
