East Suffolk Council is working with local landowners to plant trees and hedgerows across the district. If you have land available of any size that could host new native trees or hedgerows we are keen to work with you.
By working closely with the Woodland Trust we can connect you with the funding and advice to enable native trees to be planted on your land.
The aim is to enable 250,000 trees to be planted and new hedgerows to be created across East Suffolk by the end of 2027. This is part of a new tree and hedgerow strategy announced in July 2024.
Of key interest is lower agricultural grade land, near or next to existing woodland or hedgerows. This can help join up existing habitats, helping wildlife move through the landscape by reconnecting nature corridors.
East Suffolk Council is already actively planting trees and changing the way we manage existing trees and woodland that we manage – but local landowners of all type and size will be key to delivering this work at scale.
