  • Ending a council tenancy

A tenancy with the council can be brought to an end for a variety of reasons such as moving to another, bigger or smaller home, relocating to another part of the country, or even sadly, upon death of the tenant or the need to move into a residential home. Whatever the reason, it is important that your Housing Officer is informed as early as possible.

  • Welfare housing improvements

If your home becomes unsuitable for you or a member of your family because of disability, the council can help. We may offer alternative and more suitable housing if this is available, or arrange for necessary works to your home. This might include ramps for a wheelchair, special fittings or ground floor facilities, etc.

  • Chargeable housing repairs

Some repairs to tenants' homes will only be undertaken if paid for in advance by the tenant. This is necessary because the council only has sufficient funds to replace components at the end of their normal expected lifespan. We cannot budget for unexpected repairs that result from misuse or accidental damage caused by tenants, their families or their guests. As such, tenants must be aware that repairs of this nature will need to be paid for in full by the tenant before the council carries out any works.

  • Emergency council housing repairs

Emergency repairs should not be reported by using the online reporting form.
