Bungay will be the location for a special broadcast on this year's Suffolk Day. 

Falling annually on Midsummer, 21 June, the celebration of everything special about Suffolk will this year kick off in Framlingham before rolling into Bungay.

Suffolk Day co-ordinators, BBC Radio Suffolk will be broadcasting from Bungay's iconic Butter Cross monument between 10am and 2pm.

What's more, and specially for 2022, Suffolk Day will be part of the Festival of Suffolk, the county's unique celebration of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Suffolk Day will commence with the Suffolk Day proclamation broadcast on Mark Murphy's Breakfast Show, at Framlingham Castle, from 6am.

Wayne Bavin will then take the mic from 10am in Bungay – by kind invitation of the Mayor.

The Suffolk Day proclamation, composed for the Lord lieutenant by year 12 English students at Thomas Mills High School, Framlingham, will be read in front of the Butter Cross, ahead of a interviews with local organisations to discuss Bungay’s rich history.

Interviews will include Clays book printers, of Harry Potter fame, the Green Dragon microbrewery, author James Mayhew and the producers of internationally recognised Bigod Cheese.
