Notification of submission of the draft East Suffolk CIL Charging Schedule
East Suffolk Council has prepared the East Suffolk Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule, which sets out the amount that certain kinds of development are required to pay to contribute to the delivery of infrastructure in the area.
The Council submitted the draft East Suffolk CIL Charging Schedule (and supporting evidence/information) for examination on 8 July 2022. The examiner, appointed by East Suffolk Council, is Mr Andrew Seaman MRTPI, of company Intelligent Plans and Examinations.
Following earlier consultation, some Proposed Modifications have been made to the draft CIL Charging Schedule. Anyone who wishes to be heard by the examiner in relation to any of the Proposed Modifications must inform the Council in writing by 5pm on 5 August 2022.
All the documents submitted for examination, including the draft CIL Charging Schedule and Statement of Modifications, can be viewed on the Council’s website, together with information on how to be heard by the examiner:
Cllr David Ritchie, Cabinet Member for Planning and Coastal Management, said:
“The CIL is an important tool in helping to deliver the infrastructure needed to mitigate and support development in the district. That infrastructure can include new roads, schools, flood defences, green spaces, health facilities and leisure centres – so the CIL is something that potentially affects everyone.
“Setting a levy schedule covering the whole of East Suffolk is a fair and transparent way for developers and residents to know what we expect to be contributed from new development.
“I'd like to thank everyone who has taken part in the consultation and would remind people that the Proposed Modifications are now available to view on the Council’s website.”
• Recent examples of funding from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) include the allocation of £700,000 for a new community centre for Framlingham residents. A ‘sod turning’ event was held on the site in January 2022 (pictured), attended by representatives from Framlingham Parochial Church Council, Framlingham Town Council and East Suffolk Council.
