Help improve private rented homes in East Suffolk

Posted by on 14 June 2021 | Comments

Private renters in East Suffolk are invited to have their say in a new survey as part of East Suffolk Council’s plans to improve homes in the district.

With almost 15,000 privately rented homes in East Suffolk, East Suffolk Council wants to better understand the challenges faced by private renters as part of its work to ensure that homes in the district are secure, safe and energy efficient.

The Council has therefore partnered with Generation Rent, the national campaigning body for private renters, to launch a pilot consultation for private renters who live in the Harbour & Normanston ward, Beccles & Worlingham ward or Aldeburgh & Leiston ward.

For the first part of the consultation, private renters in the three pilot wards are invited to take part in a new survey which runs until Monday 21 June 2021 and the Council will also be working alongside private renters later this year with forums and focus group discussions.

Richard Kerry, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “Carrying out this survey will help East Suffolk Council better understand the challenges private renters face in East Suffolk and I want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved and share their experiences, good or bad, as this will help us to improve homes in East Suffolk, supporting private renters and ensuring they know their rights.”

Take part in the survey now or see more information.
