A huge number of enquiries have been received from people interested in purchasing one of Lowestoft’s eye-catching new beach huts and pre-sales information will be released in the coming weeks.
As part of wider work by East Suffolk Council to regenerate the town, 72 contemporary beach huts are being built on the site of the former Jubilee Terrace huts on the seafront.
Designed by Norwich-based architects Chaplin Farrant, the new huts – named Eastern Edge – are being built on two levels and face partially south to ensure maximum sunshine throughout the day. The tips of the structures face eastwards, reflecting Lowestoft’s position as the most easterly location in the country and inspiring their new name.
The sale of a number of beach huts is being jointly managed by agents Paul Hubbard and Steel & Co. Those who have already formally expressed an interest in buying one of the Eastern Edge huts will be contacted and provided with pre-sales information over the next few weeks. New enquiries can be made to Paul Hubbard by calling 01502 531218 or emailing info@paulhubbardonline.com.
Cllr Craig Rivett, East Suffolk’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member for Economic Development said: “There has been an incredible amount of interest from people in the new beach huts and we are pleased to now be at the exciting stage of offering people the chance to purchase one.
“These huts are already a talking point in the local area and form just one part of our ambitious plans for the seafront and the town centre. Along with other regeneration projects such as the repurposing of the East Point Pavilion, the new Eastern Edge huts will attract visitors from across the country, increasing footfall in the town centre, boosting the local economy and enhancing the lives of local residents.”
Paul Hubbard, Managing Director of Paul Hubbard Estate Agents said: “Now these are taking shape, you can see that they are truly unique, high quality and something for our town to be proud of, we have one of the best beaches around and this is the perfect way to enjoy it with comfort and convenience. They are already proving to be popular and demand will ultimately outweigh supply, so if you are interested in owning one please get in touch sooner rather than later.”
Danny Steel, Company Director and Head of Commercial Property Management at Steel & Co. said: “Steel & Co and Paul Hubbard are delighted to be marketing the new Eastern Edge beach huts for East Suffolk Council. We see the project as a major step forward in the seafront plans and will give many people a great deal of pleasure over the coming years.”
As part of Eastern Edge, each beach hut will benefit from a raised area of decking to the front which will enable people to sit without restricting access to those using the lower promenade. Of the 72 huts, 36 are to be sold and 36 will be available to hire on a weekly basis through a dedicated booking website. Ten of the most central huts have been designed to be more easily accessible and these will also be available for hire.
Construction of Eastern Edge is expected to complete ahead of the summer season.
