Residents can learn new skills and techniques to help them to be aware of how they’re feeling and what to do to stay well, through free online events.
The events, which are open to residents of all ages and abilities, have been organised by the Emotional Wellbeing in the Community partnership which is made up of District and County Councils, Public Health and leaders from the voluntary sector. The group led on the Suffolk Says Thanks Campaign during the pandemic which encouraged people to thank each other for small acts of kindness.
East Suffolk Council, West Suffolk Council and Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils have worked together to create the Suffolk Says Keep Learning campaign to promote the power of learning something new to improve wellbeing and to share techniques to help improve mental health.
Cllr Mary Rudd, East Suffolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Health, said:
“Our own well-being has never been more important, but it can be easy to ignore the warning signs if things get on top of us. These events offer an excellent opportunity to lean new skills and technics to help you be aware of how you’re feeling and, more importantly, what to do to stay well.”
Chrissie Geeson, Chair of the Suffolk Collaborative Communities Board, said:
“Learning something new is a great way to improve wellbeing, and these free online events are a great way of doing this. From general tips and advice to improve mental health, to the positive effects of physical activity on mental health, to name just two examples, I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to book their place and get involved.”
There are five events, co-hosted by Suffolk MIND, Onelife Suffolk, The Greenlight Trust and Girlguiding Suffolk, taking place over the next two months, covering a range of different topics.
These events have now passed.
