New Christmas card campaign to spread festive cheers

Posted by on 13 December 2021 | Comments

East Suffolk Council has launched a new campaign in the lead up to Christmas, which will see Christmas cards being sent to some of the most vulnerable residents in East Suffolk.

As well as a festive message, the Christmas cards will include printed information with contact details of organisations and services available to those who may need help or advice over the winter months.

Cllr Letitia Smith, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism, said:  “For many of us, the festive season is a time for celebration and fun, however, for others it can be the loneliest time of the year.

“East Suffolk Council wants to support our older residents who may be on their own over the Christmas period by offering them some hope and comfort by sending what may be their only card this year and reassuring them that support is available if they need it – not just for Christmas, but throughout the year.”

The need for the campaign was initially recognised when the Council’s Communities Team worked with organisations and groups in Felixstowe to look at ways in which to support vulnerable residents during the winter months.

To help distribute the Christmas cards, local organisations and groups are being asked to contact East Suffolk Council before 22 December if they believe some residents in their communities could benefit from receiving one. However, please note that there is limited stock available, which will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
