Residents in East Suffolk are invited to have their say in a survey to help shape a new housing strategy which addresses the needs of older residents.

East Suffolk Council has today launched a survey, which will help develop a new Older People’s Housing Strategy to support older people’s housing needs in East Suffolk.

The aim of the strategy will be to ensure that East Suffolk is equipped with the homes and services older residents need so they can continue to live fulfilling lives in the right type of housing, whether they decide to stay at home, move to a more manageable home or to accommodation where additional support is available.

Cllr Richard Kerry, cabinet member for Housing, said: “We believe that everyone should have a choice of where they want to live as they get older and receive the support they need, whether they choose to live independently at home, move to a more manageable property or move to accommodation where additional support is on hand. This means that we need to ensure that we have quality homes and services in East Suffolk that enables older residents to continue to live fulfilling lives and play an active part in our communities.

“This housing strategy will play an important role in helping us achieve this and will be guided by the invaluable information we receive from this survey, so I want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved and have their say, that so we can develop the right strategy for East Suffolk and provide the support our older residents need.”
