Council launches consultation on engagement in planning processes

Posted by on 12 January 2026 | Comments

Residents, businesses and organisations are invited to share their views on East Suffolk Council’s revised Statement of Community Involvement, which sets out how the council engages with local communities across different planning processes.

A consultation begins on Tuesday 13 January 2026, inviting comments on the new Statement of Community Involvement, which aims to ensure that the council’s approach to community involvement is clear, inclusive and effective when dealing with planning matters such as planning applications and local plans.

Cllr Mark Packard, East Suffolk’s cabinet member for Planning and Coastal Management said:

“This consultation is important in ensuring that resident’s voices are heard during the planning process. Planning matters affect us all, so I urge all residents to have their views heard by submitting their comments on the statement.”

The Statement of Community Involvement is now available to view online.

The consultation closes 5pm Tuesday 24 February 2026.

Comments can be submitted via the online portal or by emailing planningpolicy@eastsuffolk.gov.uk. They can also be posted to Planning Policy and Delivery Team, Riverside, 4 Canning Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR33 0EQ.

For more information, please call 01394 444557 or email planningpolicy@eastsuffolk.gov.uk.
