East Suffolk Council led a multi-agency day of action in Lowestoft earlier this month, joining forces with other authorities to tackle the issues most important to people living and working in the town.
Council teams including Community Safety, Environmental Health, Food Safety and Parking Services joined Lowestoft Neighbourhood Watch Association, Home Office Immigration Team, Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Police for the event on Friday 3 October.
32 representatives took part in the event and aimed to address environmental, community safety, and regulatory issues while engaging directly with residents and local businesses.
Outcomes from the event included:
Following the event, information was shared with relevant departments to carry out follow up investigations and carry out enforcement action.
Cllr Jan Candy, East Suffolk's cabinet member with responsibility for Community Health, said: “The Council collaborates with lots of different authorities and organisations every day, so it’s important for them to be visible together on the streets of Lowestoft to tackle the issues affecting our communities the most as we know that this helps people to feel safer.
“Since the event took place, our teams have continued their investigations and kept that dialogue going with people to show that we are here to support everyone. Looking towards our next event here, we want to bring more teams in such as parking enforcement as it’s something residents have told us they’re concerned about.”
