Funding available for community groups in Lowestoft

Posted by on 16 April 2025 | Comments

Voluntary and community groups in Lowestoft and the surrounding villages are set to benefit from a new funding scheme which launches next week.

The Lowestoft and northern parishes Community Partnership will open its ‘Try it’ Small Grants Scheme for applications on Monday 21 April and local charities and organisations are invited to apply for funding of up to £1,000.

Applications are welcomed for new projects which have not been tried in the area before, and which aim to support one or more of the Partnership’s priorities. These are improving mental health, reducing social isolation and loneliness and improving healthy eating and physical activity in children.

Cllr Paul Ashdown, Chair of the Lowestoft and northern parishes Community Partnership said: “We are keen to hear from local community groups, charities and organisations who are looking to try a new project which aligns with the priorities of the Community Partnership. We are especially interested in applications from groups in the central Lowestoft, Kirkley and Gunton areas.”

Applications close on Friday 6 June at 9am and will be reviewed by a panel of representatives from the Community Partnership. Grants can be for a minimum of £500 and a maximum of £1000, although higher bids will be considered by the panel if appropriate.

Full details about eligibility criteria and how to apply will be available from 21 April.

The Community Partnership priorities are:

  • To improve mental health and wellbeing using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing (Connect/Get Active/Take Notice/Learn/Give).
  • To reduce social isolation and loneliness.
  • To improve healthy eating and activity in children by targeting and engaging with year 5 children, staff and parents through communication and education.
