As the weather turns colder, East Suffolk Council is making residents aware of the Warm Welcomes spaces that have opened their doors this winter.
Warm Welcomes (formerly known as Warm Rooms) are safe, warm and welcoming spaces that give the public the chance to connect with their local community and the opportunity to access information, advice and support.
Open in 16 venues across the district, the spaces include libraries, churches and public spaces and are open various days and times during the week and at weekends.
Part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the spaces are free to visit, with many offering hot drinks, snacks and meals at a small cost, as well as providing activities such as books, games, arts and crafts.
Cllr Sarah Whitelock, East Suffolk Council’s cabinet member for Communities, Culture, Leisure and Tourism said: “Darks days and cold weather can make people can feel more isolated and disconnected, but we want to remind residents about the Warm Welcomes that are here to provide free and safe support this winter.
“Providing so much more than just a warm space, the venues are places for people to meet others and to bring our communities together as well as helping them to find out about support and advice from local partners.
“We’d like to thank all the new and returning venues that are opening their doors this year. With many spaces opening for the fourth year in a row, it’s positive to see the continued support that’s available to everyone.”
