Disabled parking

On-street parking places

To assist Blue Badge holders, several parking concessions are available under the Blue Badge Scheme.  For full details on where you can and cannot park, please refer to the Blue Badge Scheme: Rights and Responsibilities handbook which is provided with your badge.

If you do not have a copy, you can view this document online via: The Blue Badge scheme: rights and responsibilities in England.

Additional Concessions in East Suffolk

Blue Badge holders are entitled to the following local concessions within the East Suffolk district:

  • Up to 3 hours of parking in designated resident permit bays (with a no return period of 1 hour)
  • Unrestricted parking in time-limited waiting bays

Off-street parking places

Please be aware that the Blue Badge scheme is primarily intended for on-street parking. Different rules apply in off-street car parks, such as those operated by East Suffolk Council. Always check local signage and terms and conditions when using a Blue Badge in off-street locations.

Designated disabled parking bays are available in all our off-street car parks. No concessions are available for Blue Badge holders, the standard tariff charges apply to all users. When using a designated disabled bay, the Blue Badge must be clearly displayed on the dashboard, with the front side facing upwards.

Blue Badge applications and renewals

Blue Badge holders must ensure their badge is valid and in date. Expired Blue Badges are not permitted and displaying one may result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) being issued.

Blue Badge applications, either new or existing will need to be directed through Suffolk County Council's Blue Badge Team. Please visit their website for more information: Apply or re-apply for a Blue Badge.
