East Suffolk Free Wi-Fi

East Suffolk Council has appointed Proximity Futures Limited (trading as ElephantWiFi) to provide free access to Wi-Fi in towns across the district. Our free-to-use public Wi-Fi will allow you to connect to the Internet for free, whilst in the towns' public spaces. You will also have the option to sign up to receive town centre news, events and offers by email so that you won't miss out.

Do I need to register to use the Wi-Fi?

Yes, you will be asked to create a free account by providing your name, email address, date of birth and partial post-code. Once you have registered for East Suffolk Free Wi-Fi, you will be able to access it again in any of our towns that has it installed, without re-registering.

What will you use my registration information for?

We will use your information to:

  • create a user account for you to access the free Wi-Fi services
  • produce anonymised statistics about the usage of the Wi-Fi service

We only use your personal data for the purposes you consented to or for other lawful purposes (e.g. detection and prevention of fraud). East Suffolk Free Wi-Fi Privacy Statement

Is it safe and secure to use the free Wi-Fi?

The free Wi-Fi is a public network. That means it is not as secure as your home network so you do need to be a bit more careful. Protect your information when using public Wi-Fi.

Why has East Suffolk Council installed free to use public Wi-Fi?

Public Wi-Fi allows members of the public and businesses to access the internet in a designated public realm zone and is free of charge. It provides visitors with a better town centre experience and can increase visitor numbers and the amount of time visitors spend in town centres, benefiting both visitors and the local economy.
