Community Help Hub

Our Community Help Hub provides front line support to some of our most vulnerable residents. We help with health, wellbeing, money and accessing services. We can support anyone over 18 who lives in East Suffolk.

Health & Wellbeing

The team operate a supported access model – a bridge into services and support – with the aim of increasing confidence, feelings of self-worth and motivation, improving communication skills and increasing trust in services.

We work with people to enable them and help them formulate a plan based around what the person feels would improve their life, including:

  • improved mental and physical health
  • improved family relationships
  • increased trust in services
  • help to secure appropriate housing
  • help to secure employment, education or training
  • reduced social isolation and loneliness

The team will not work with individuals who are already being supported by a named practitioner, e.g. adult social care or mental health services.

Help with Money

East Suffolk Council’s Financial Inclusion work sits within the Community Help Hub. We support East Suffolk residents with the cost of living and deliver preventative and early intervention work to increase financial wellbeing, resilience and capability.

We can help with:

  • Increasing income
  • Benefit entitlement checks and applications
  • Reducing bills
  • Budgeting
  • Dealing with debts
  • Grant applications
  • Essential household items
  • Obtaining ID documents
  • Opening a bank account

How we work

The Community Help Hub offers support and advice by appointment over the phone and in person. Home visits may be possible in some circumstances.

We also attend a number of regular outreach events in local communities which operate on a drop-in basis. View the current list of outreach locations.
