East Suffolk Council has adopted a new Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The Affordable Housing SPD provides guidance to support the implementation of the Council’s planning policies on affordable housing.
Cllr David Ritchie, cabinet member for Planning and Coastal Management said: “Our two Local Plans contain policies relating to the provision and development of affordable housing and this Supplementary Planning Document will support the implementation of those policies. This new document, which includes guidance on the design of affordable housing, legal agreements and carrying out local housing needs assessments, will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications going forward.”

The Worlingham Neighbourhood Plan was prepared by Worlingham Parish Council and sets out its vision for development to 2036.

Last staged in 2019, prior to the Covid pandemic, these awards, run by East Suffolk Council, celebrate the best in local businesses, people and community groups. Not only that, a ‘Next Big Idea’ category winner will receive a grant to turn their dream scheme into a reality. Anyone wishing to nominate has until the end of November to submit an application.
The awards are about recognising contributions, celebrating successes, and giving people the ‘round of applause’ they deserve for improving lives in East Suffolk. Winners will be announced at an event at Snape Maltings on 28 February 2023.

East Suffolk Council’s “Through the Lens” photo competition is back, and entrants are being given more chances to win with the introduction of two new categories.
East Suffolk is home to many businesses supplying products locally, regionally and nationally and is is well served by a comprehensive road network, with access to a local rail network direct to the Port of Felixstowe, London Gateway, Tilbury and Harwich. Freight handling airports including Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, East Midlands and Heathrow are easily reached and the presence of local freight forwarders and freight agents, who can help with export arrangements, make the area well placed to meet your needs.
