The Constitution sets out how we operate, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are efficient, transparent and accountable to local people. Some of these processes are required by the law, while others are a matter for the council to choose.
East Suffolk Council reviewed it’s constitution in 2025. It now comprises two documents, the main Constitution and Appendices.
A Guide to the Constitution has also been created which provides an overview of the Council’s constitution and explains key sections of the constitution in clear and simple language.
