  • Deed of Obligation

    On the 8 October 2021, East Suffolk Council, Suffolk County Council and NNB Generation Company (SZC) Limited entered into a Deed of Obligation (DoO) pursuant to section 1 of the Localism Act 2011 and section 111 of the Local government Act 1972. The DoO related to all aspects of the Sizewell C project, however since the signing of the DoO, two Deed of Variations have been signed (13 April 2022 and 6 May 2022) which amend specific aspects of the original Deed.

  • Development Consent Order

    Overview

    EDF Energy submitted their application for Development Consent Order for a new nuclear power station, Sizewell C, on the 27 May 2020, the Planning Inspectorate had 28 days to determine if the application was acceptable. Up to date documentation and information on the project can be found on the Planning Inspectorate website.

    Route D2 and B1122 study

    EDF Energy has identified the B1122 as the main access route to deliver the Sizewell C development. This route will need to accommodate HGV vehicles for the delivery of materials, coach traffic for transporting workers to the site, abnormal loads and car trips by individual workers/visitors. Following the Stage 1 consultation by EDF Energy, concerns were raised around the lack of information provided for transport related mitigation for the B1122.

  • Community engagement

    The Sizewell C Task Group met for the first time on 18 October 2010. The remit of the group relates to Sizewell C matters. The task group's amended terms of reference were approved by Cabinet in November 2013.

  • Planning application and enforcement statistics

    Annual reports

    Annual Reports are published to the Strategic Planning Committee, in June/July each year, containing various statistics in relation to applications and enforcement cases dealt with by East Suffolk Council as Local Planning Authority. The reports are accompanied by various appendices which include graphs displaying the data for the preceding financial year and in some cases comparisons with previous years.
