  • LionLink (formerly EuroLink) Multi-Purpose Interconnector

    The LionLink Multi-Purpose Interconnector (formerly known as EuroLink) is being developed by National Grid Ventures. Interconnectors are high voltage cables which connect the electricity systems of neighbouring countries. Multi-Purpose Interconnectors could enable interconnection and offshore wind to work together as one combined asset.

  • Helping to deliver affordable homes in East Suffolk

    A new planning document has been adopted in East Suffolk to help guide the development of affordable homes being delivered across the district.

    East Suffolk Council has adopted a new Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The Affordable Housing SPD provides guidance to support the implementation of the Council’s planning policies on affordable housing.

    Cllr David Ritchie, cabinet member for Planning and Coastal Management said: “Our two Local Plans contain policies relating to the provision and development of affordable housing and this Supplementary Planning Document will support the implementation of those policies. This new document, which includes guidance on the design of affordable housing, legal agreements and carrying out local housing needs assessments, will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications going forward.”

  • £2.75m funding agreed for levelling up in East Suffolk

    Following a submission to the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, East Suffolk Council has been allocated £2.75m which will be used to support high streets, local businesses, workforce and community skills development, as well as support for those struggling with the cost of living crisis.

    In April 2022, the Government launched the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to support its Levelling Up agenda. The primary goal of the UKSPF is to build pride in place and increase life chances across the UK, focusing on communities and place, supporting local business, people and skills.
