The first Quality of Place awards event took place on 29 July 2010, in the Council Chamber at Melton Hill, Woodbridge. Five projects were given recognition for their contribution to good design and conservation:
For this first year of the awards only, projects or schemes completed within the last three years were eligible for nomination.
The panel of judges was made up of Judith Foord, the Aldeburgh Society’s Vice President, Gareth Price, a Member of the East of England Branch of the Landscape Institute, Simon Smeaton, a partner of Owl Architects and Member of the Suffolk Association of Architects, and Simon Cairns, director of the Suffolk Preservation Society.
The panel was chaired by Councillor Bob Snell, vice-chairman of Suffolk Coastal's North Development Control Sub-Committee and the awards were presented by Council Chairman, Councillor Veronica Falconer.
