Funding
The Sizewell C project’s Deed of Obligation (DOO) sets out details of mitigation funding secured.

This page provides an overview of the different project specific mitigation funding which has been secured through the DOO. Funds are split between Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council, and shared community funds as follows:
Shared Community Mitigation Funds
- £23m Sizewell C Community Fund administered through Suffolk Community Foundation;
- £12m Natural Environment Fund (held by SZC Co.);
- SCC & ESC will also receive significant funds to be passed onto external organisations.
Suffolk County Council Secured Mitigation Funding
- £12m SCC Public Services Resilience Fund – community safety, social care, schools, early years, etc.
- Significant skills investment (£14.9m administered by SCC plus £10m internal commitments);
- £1.4m funding towards Fire and Rescue service;
- Funding contribution to A12 Major Road Networks Scheme, ~£8m highway fees + maintenance; transport contingency;
- £2.5m Public Rights of Way and Cycling Funding + £700k for Leiston walking and cycling;
- SCC Resourcing – 2x posts and £150k per annum during construction;
- SCC Statement of Funds for 2023-2024 Quarter 1.
East Suffolk Council Secured Mitigation Funding
- £13m Housing Fund total (4 x posts, elements to boost private & tourist accommodation supply and support housing and homelessness services measures;
- £4.2m Economic Development Fund to cover staff resources and support businesses communities;
- £12m Tourism Fund (ESC) and up to £3m for Tourism Fund Programme Manager and Marketing Manager;
- £1.6m Public Services Resilience Fund (Communities – including staffing resources);
- Additional resources – 2x planning, 1xEHO, 1x Natural Environment Implementation Officer and £150k per annum during construction;
- Leiston Sports Facilities - £1.1m to design and build 3G pitch and 2x MUGAs and £55k annually for maintenance;
- £300k Farmland Bird Mitigation Fund;
- £150k RAMS;
- ESC Statement of Funds for 2023-2024 Quarter 1.
